Opportunities - working with us

A guiding business principle of QGC is that communities should benefit from our presence.
Part of that commitment means providing opportunities for individuals and competitive local industry to participate in the Queensland Curtis LNG Project.
Across its various components, the Queensland Curtis LNG Project will generate an increase in value-added activity in Queensland of $32 billion in its first decade and provide more than 4300 direct jobs on average at the peak of construction and about 1000 permanent positions.
Liquefaction plant
Building the liquefaction plant on Curtis Island will account for a large proportion of the workforce, with about 1,500 jobs on average during construction, comprising carpenters, pipe fitters, coded welders, electricians, steel fixers, riggers, boilermakers and many other trades.
QGC has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the plant to Bechtel. However, general contracting, engineering, concreting, pre-fabrication, equipment hire, communications and transport are among the many subcontracted services required.
When the plant is completed, a further 100 to 200 full-time personnel will operate the facility.
Gas fields and pipeline
In the gas fields, about 2300 people on average will be required during construction for exploration, appraisal and gas production as fields are expanded to meet demand. The main pipeline to Gladstone will provide employment for an average 500 people during construction.
Jobs
Individuals interested in working on the Queensland Curtis LNG Project should regularly monitor the Bechtel website for opportunities.
General roles with QGC will be advertised via the QGC website and the BG Group website.
Suppliers
QGC is committed to ensuring that local industry is provided with full, fair and reasonable opportunities to tender for work on the Queensland Curtis LNG Project. We seek to cascade this approach to our main contractors throughout the tendering process.
QGC will seek to maximise the purchase of goods and services from local companies where they are competitive on safety, cost, quality and timeliness.
QGC's approach is outlined in the Supplier Information Pack (2.3 MB PDF).
Bechtel Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Inc. has been appointed as project contractor for the liquefaction plant and will be responsible for co-ordinating labour and supplier requirements. Companies and suppliers are invited to register their interest in working on this component of the Project via the Bechtel supplier and contractor portal.
Businesses interested in supplying goods and services to QGC may register their interest directly via procon.bg-group.com/ProCon.
In addition, Industry Capability Network (ICN) Queensland will assist QGC by helping to identify Queensland and Australian companies that can supply goods and services to the standards required.
Suppliers may contact ICN on +61 (7) 3364 0670.
